When Writing Your Story Feels Overwhelming: The Somatic Story Map™

Blog header image for 'How to begin when the scope of your story feels overwhelming,' featuring a soft-focus image of hands and the Somatic Story Map title.

Among other things that've been happening behind the scenes, I created this "Little known facts about me" section on my About page recently:

"My first job at seventeen was professional ballroom dancer, but writing has always been my first love. For me it's a deeply physical act that tethers me to my body and fulfilled self – even when I'm writing about hard things. Which I usually am. I’ve self-published two books, but the credential I'm most proud of is using writing to reclaim my own wholeness after decades of spectacular trauma.

My Body Writing™ method was born out of that experience.

I’m an Aquarius sun, Cancer moon and Taurus rising. I love flowers, emotional honestly and iced Americanos with cream. Most days I can be found with either earplugs or earbuds in —Tori Amos is my perpetual favorite listen."

If you've been keeping up with current astrology, the fact that I'm an Aquarius sun might explain where I've been – doing a lot of integrating, soul searching and getting honest with myself about my desire to write my story. Tho prioritize my writers heart.

But not just write my story – write the story my body wants to tell.

But as seasoned as I am, and as fully as I understand the scope of my story, I find myself unsure where to begin and what to include, and those of you I've been talking to report feeling similar: you know this is a story your body wants to tell, the desire comes from deep inside you, but when you think about beginning, overwhelm takes over. You get lost in the What should I include? and Where should I begin?, and your story stays trapped in your skin.

I want to help you bridge that gap in a single afternoon.

Moving From the Compulsion to Write Your Story to an Outline That Lets You Get Started

I started thinking about what I wanted and what would help me be able to begin from this place – with excitement. Which has me refining and revisiting the curriculum for my intimate story writing program Somatic Story Immersion. ✍🏼☕️💐

While I'm finishing the full curriculum for that (💞), I've decided to open up a limited number of Somatic Story Map Sessions.

This is a 2-hour, 1:1 intensive to map the outline of your story through your body. Instead of trying to cram what your body wants to say into a traditional framework, we'll find your Story Constellation Points where they live: in your body – and move you from the compulsion to write into a structure you can actually work with in one afternoon.

What we'll do together:

  • A 2-hour deep dive: To map the specific moments your story should include.

  • Your Somatic Story Map: You'll leave with a custom outline of your arc and starting point so you can actually begin writing

  • A full $350 credit: Your investment is fully applied toward the upcoming Somatic Story Immersion, should you choose to join us.

[Let's map your story.]

I can't wait to get you clarity so you can begin. 💞

Warmly,

Jennifer

p.s. Since these are 1:1 deep dives, I only have a few spots available before the full Immersion begins. If you're wondering if this is the right container for your specific story, contact me here. I'm happy to help you feel into whether The Somatic Story Map is right for you.
